Classic Wisp Hammered Dulcimer Hammer - Padauk with Sapele grip
Padauk with Cherry grip
Length: 8 3/8 inches; Weight: 6.7 grams
Padauk (pah-DUKE) is a West African hardwood sometimes called Vermillion for the red-orange color of the heartwood when freshly cut. Strips of this color can be seen in the body of these Wisps. The grips are Sapele (suh-PEE-lee), a tropical African hardwood known for its fine, uniform grain and its use for a wide variety of products from furniture to musical instruments to boat building. Keeping the hammers out of direct sunlight will help preserve the color of both woods.
