Difficult growing conditions are what make the tiny bird's-eye-like knots in Hard Maple, and the Cherry grips will slowly turn to a lovely darker reddish-brown with age and exposure to light. The Maple edge produces a nice, bright tone while the leather covered edge produces a softer tone.
