Tri-Tone Claves

from $15.00

SKU CLV

Our take on the traditional African claves. The 6 inch striker is paired with an 8 inch resonator which is partially hollowed out, giving three striking areas, each with it’s own tone - the hollowed end, the middle portion opposite the cutout, and the solid end.

Claves are a great beginner percussion instrument, yet there’s enough technique involved in acheiving sound quality and rhythmic complexity to satisfy the serious musician.

Diameter of Hardwood Claves are 1 1/4 inches; Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Paduak, Yellow Canarywood and Bolivian Rosewood Claves are all 7/8 inches in diameter.

Price is for the matched pair; photos show two pairs to show both sides of the resonator. Shipping is $6.

How to hold the claves:

Cup your non-dominant hand and rest the resonator across the fingertips and thumb, creating a sound chamber between your palm and the cutout in the resonator.

Hold the stiker in your dominant hand between the thumb and fingers. The three different tones are achieved by stiking the resonator in areas shown in the drawing.
